Overview

Feuteu is delighted to present Pop Goes 2021, a new online exhibition focusing on the Pop genre in contemporary photography.

Pop art as a movement began in the 1950s in Britain. One of the founding members of this genre was the pioneering artist Eduardo Paolozzi, who showed for the first time contemporary collages of American media - bright, colourful images pulled from American comics, advertisements and other sources.

“I like to make use of everything. I can't bear to throw things away - a nice wine bottle, a nice box,” he once said.

This new photographic style combined early avant-garde art strategies with mass media imagery and everyday objects, emphasising the banal or kitschy elements of culture, most often through the use of irony.

The aim of Pop Goes 2021 is to connect and explore the different approaches of some of FEUTEU’s artists that were either part of the original movement or have been strongly inspired by it.

Other than Eduardo Paolozzi, and his collages from magazines and found objects, we have included John Baldessari’s celebrity portraits with his ‘colour interventions’, plus Linder, John Stezaker and Sir Peter Blake with their photomontage portraits.

All these artworks are available to purchase via our website. For any further details or enquiries, please email us at gallery@feuteu.com.
